The town and its heritageThe town and its heritage

Concarneau is a coastal town and an ancient stronghold of Brittany, with a rich architectural heritage.

Built from the 14th century onwards on a rocky outcrop, the Ville Close, located between the fishing-port and the marina is the birthplace of his twon of 20,000 inhabitants.

Cross the only bridge leading to the shelter of the fortifications and wander around the shopping streets, squares and gardens. The old dwellings steeped in history the timberframed houses, the granite facades and gables make fascinating viewing.

Maritime pageants are often held on the wide Pénéroff and Dusquene quaysides, which lead off the cobbled roads of the Ville Close. Sit for a while at one of the cafés or restaurants and give into a gentle way of life!
